1. Joel 2:13
“…Return to the LORD your God, for He is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love…”

Lent begins with an invitation to return to God’s presence. While He is our ever-present help, we are called to intentionally seek and abide in His presence. This verse reminds us of His mercy and steadfast love, meeting us with open arms as we draw near.

2. Psalm 51:10
“Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me.”

Lent is a time for inward renewal, a season to ask God to cleanse and revive our hearts. As we do, we experience His refreshment and restoration.

3. Isaiah 53:5
“But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.”

These words were spoken centuries before Jesus walked the earth–a whisper of hope and promise carried through time to Calvary. This prophecy draws us into the sacrifice of Christ, who bore the weight of our sins to bring us peace and healing.

4. Matthew 4:4
“Jesus answered, ‘It is written: “Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.”’”

During Lent and Easter, we are invited to shift our focus from earthly things to the spiritual nourishment of God’s Word. This season calls us to hide God’s Word in our hearts, finding deep satisfaction and purpose in its timeless, living, and active power.

5. John 13:14-15
“Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.”

On Maundy Thursday, Jesus modeled humility and love, calling us to serve others with the same grace He extends to us. As we reflect on His servanthood–both at the table with His disciples and on Calvary Hill–we will find a deeper sense of purpose in serving others.

6. Luke 23:34
“Jesus said, ‘Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing…’”

Even in His suffering, Jesus displayed boundless forgiveness. This verse calls us to reflect on the depth of His mercy and extend that same forgiveness to others, remembering God’s unconditional love for us.

7. John 19:30
“When He had received the drink, Jesus said, ‘It is finished.’ With that, He bowed His head and gave up His spirit.”

In His powerful declaration, “It is finished,” Jesus proclaimed victory over sin. His sacrifice on the cross paid the price for our redemption. Then, in three days, His resurrection triumphed over death.

8. Romans 6:4
“… just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.”

Jesus conquered sin on the cross, and as His lungs filled with air on that third morning, He declared victory over death, offering us new life. Easter morning ushers in renewal, and through His resurrection, we are invited into abundant life–both now and for eternity with God.

9. 1 Corinthians 15:55
“Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?”

As Jesus faithfully fulfilled God’s redemptive plan, He freed us from the power and punishment of sin. When we confess with our mouths that Jesus is Lord and believe in our hearts that God raised Him from the dead, we are saved.

10. Revelation 21:4
“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

Easter reminds us of our hope in Christ—the promise of ultimate restoration. Through His glory and grace, we are made new in Christ and can look forward to the day when God makes all things new.
