It is fitting that Mother’s Day marks the beginning of the growing season. So many gardeners wait eagerly for this mid-May Sunday when it’s finally warm enough to place plants into the soil. God values the work of motherhood. When He sent His Son to earth to save us, He did so through a stunning story of motherhood. Thinking of Mary carrying, laboring, and raising Jesus, we understand God has an incredible role for moms and that this challenging work is Kingdom work that He blesses.

One of the enemy’s tactics is to rob mothers of their peace, and he has a lot to work with these days. Around every corner, there seems to be a news or media story or personal experience threatening our peace. And yet, God’s peace is available, sufficient, and perfect! It is the only capable defense against the unrest of this world. When a mother operates from God’s place of peace, she can face whatever comes to her and her children’s days.

“You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. Trust in the LORD forever, For in YAH, the LORD, is everlasting strength.” Isaiah 26:3-4

While it’s difficult to be faithful in the day-to-day work of motherhood when you cannot see the complete picture or outcome, you can rest confidently knowing God will not let your labor be in vain. God’s hope is steadfast in every challenge, heartache, and uncertainty. Like an anchor, His hope can steady you in every storm.
