What would you say is your biggest priority in raising your child? Deuteronomy 11:18-19 offers a beautiful vision for parenthood. It instructs us to teach our children God’s Word and to “Fix these words of Mine in your hearts and minds … teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.”
When we equip our children to take God’s Word with them wherever they go, we empower them to face all of life’s hardships and to live by truth in an often confusing world. As we help them hide God’s Word in their hearts, they will have hope in all circumstances and answers to their questions about life. This was our heart in creating the Scripture Lullabies Musical Teddy Bear. Help your child memorize the eight Biblical promises below as the bear plays songs from our “Hidden In My Heart” Scripture music series.
When situations outside our control make us afraid, we can rest in God’s peace as we learn to be still and remember He is good, powerful, and in control. Psalm 46:10 tells us, “Be still, and know that I am God…”
Listen to “Be Still And Know” from “Hidden In My Heart, Volume I”
Our children’s fears are often magnified through a lens of confusion. When they lack context for what they see and hear around them, uncertainty fuels fear and can leave them anxious. Yet God’s peace is greater than anything we can wrap our minds around. It is more than enough to calm our hearts and direct us on a path of peace.
Read Philippians 4:6-7 and listen to “The Peace of God” from “Hidden In My Heart, Volume I”
A child’s imagination is full of thoughts about their future. As they grow up, they develop wishes and dreams for what their life might be like. However, fears can cloud their perception and create a dread for days ahead. This is especially true if they have experienced hard times or trauma. Matthew 6:34 tells us, “So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself.” Because God is the author of time, He already knows what tomorrow will bring and gives us everything we need to face it.
Listen to “Take No Thought For Tomorrow” from “Hidden In My Heart, Volume III”
If your child struggles to feel loved or accepted, remind them that God makes us worthy of His great love! As we seek to know Him more through prayer and studying His Word, we experience more of His love. However, His love is not dialed up or down by our obedience. It is steady and strong, and it is always with us.
Listen to “God So Loved” from “Hidden In My Heart, Volume III”
It’s a beautiful thing to watch a child’s faith grow. As their understanding of God matures, they develop a sense of purpose. Yet — like us adults — they can feel unqualified for God’s work. We can encourage our kids that God equips us for the important work He calls us to and encourage them with the promise of Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
Listen to “I Can Do All Things” from “Hidden In My Heart, Volume I”
When sin broke the world, it also tarnished our identity and how we view ourselves. Our kids experience this as they grow up and struggle to know their self-worth. Society introduces pressure to perform, unrealistic ideals, and an unhealthy amount of feedback through “likes” and reactions across social media. As we help our children understand their worth as a child of God, they can silence lies and take every thought captive as they reflect God’s glory.
Read Psalm 139:13-16 and listen to “Wonderfully Made” from “Hidden In My Heart, Volume II”
When our children experience evil or harm, whether directly or in the life of someone they love, they are awakened to the harsh realities of our world. They can feel vulnerable to danger. We can comfort our kids and remind them that God sees every detail of our lives. Nothing escapes His attention. Not only that, but He is powerful and protective. You can explain that God is sovereign, which means He knows everything and is powerfully in control. Although we still face hard things, He can mature our faith through those difficulties and ultimately protects us like a fortress. Read your child Psalm 121:7-8: “The LORD keeps you from all harm and watches over your life. The LORD keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever.”
Listen to “Watching Over You” from “Hidden In My Heart, Volume IV”
As our kids grow up, they realize the world is a complicated place. Nothing seems to be as easy as it seems. Simple things can feel too good to be true. And yet the truth of God is simple: when we choose to follow Him and believe He has saved us from sin and brought us new life, we are made new in Him! We are delivered from the punishment and power of sin and freed to live an abundant and eternal life in Christ.
Read Romans 10:9-10 and listen to “With All My Heart (Salvation Song)” from “Hidden In My Heart, Volume IV”
Help your child memorize these Scriptures and live in light of God’s promises. Our Musical Teddy Bear plays each of the eight songs above so your child can bring God’s Word wherever they go!
